A few new faces to be seen but all showing in a pre net warmer how eager they were for a game. Vic Kandimpully the new'b opener and Phil smith got us off to a flying start. A 'very loud' opening bowler kept his end quiet for 8 overs on the trot, his counterpart however 'the tape ball specialist' decided to continuously spray short bouncers at the first two. Both played the ball well and were looking great until phil smith edge a nippy paced ball to first slip. In walks Jay Dhillon . Vic however slightly more trim than his teammate was intent on running between the wicket, something which Jay Dhillon disagrees to! We pushed on lavishly with jay Dhillon hitting some glorious boundaries, one in particular being a six hit straight over a fast bowlers head for a six (new ball plz?).

A quick drinks break and a change of umpire saw the star man fall for 39 after Sajid Suleman gave the bigman out. Dean Carr arrived at the crease but was removed early on by a well bowled delivery from the young legspinner. Here comes mo adil at 5 playing some big shots but was swiftly removed by what we all felt was an average delivery. 6 saw the saturday 3's man Sami get out to a short ball that stayed low. The score was around 160 at this time, with Vic making his 50 in good measure. Sajid Suleman decided to move down the order to see some of the newbie’s in action but his stay was not to be as he managed to middle a ball straight to midwicket. Opening bowler Raj managed to nurdle a few but was removed shortly after by a brilliant run out. Vic fell shortly after with a well bowled yorker putting his innings to sleep. Mohammed at 9 came in with a very 'Laxman like' grip and caked a few deliveries to the boundary. A Shaikh at 10 was lucky with his first ball being gloved onto the wicket without removing the bail! However a quick change of a bowler saw him inside edge a delivery to first slip. John Carr came in and blessed the entire pitch with his back foot defence but was removed the following over by a short ball that once again stayed low. We got to the respectable total in the end but a few of us felt the pitch had quickened up and the outfield was now suitable to actually hit a boundary along it so perhaps 240-250 may have been the right score!!

A cheeky little tea and little team talk put us in a good frame of mind, we knew we had to field well and bowl to our fields if we were going to win this. Raj and Mohammed put us in the driving seat early on. Very impressive short spell from Raj made the batsman hustle through with their shots, giving little away. Mo Azim got the first break through, after probing on off stump for a number overs. Their opener played a rash shot and gave Mo a caught and bowled. Number three showed great intent hitting some big blows, but Sajid Sulemans change of John Carr at the top end saw him stumped by Jay Dhillon. Dean Carr was brought on shortly after to try and finish things off and got a little break removing the last opener to a sublime catch by Vic.

John Continued with his length giving Jay Dhillon another leg stump dismissal.

A rather loud character approaches the crease with a Nike hoody and a lot to say but John being the magician he is dismisses him first ball, a fine effort from him and well deserved figures of 9-28-3. Two changes where brought around as the young legspinner and captain bottled down as if it was a test match. On came A Shaikh from the top end and Sami from the bottom. A Shaikh finding form spun the ball sharply to put any chance of the win out of hand and finished with figures of 8-30-2, Sami proving to be expensive early on came back with a fast off spinners taking their captains wicket clean out of the ground. Raj came back on late on in the innings and cleaned things up to seal a comprehensive victory. A great performance from the whole team, with the newcomers making a lasting impression on the captain. As long as this team is kept intact for the rest of the season (and weather plays), Chiswick and Latymer stand a great chance of winning the second eleven league.

Man of the Match: Vic Kandimpully (71)

Thanks for coming Candidate: Mo Adil! For making 7 and electing to feel at slip

Jonty Moment: Vic at mid off taking a sublime diving catch

Monty Moment: Jay Dhillon ripping the stumps clean out of the ground when the batsman was clearly in and in return making the stumps stand at a heavy tilt!

I have been with the club for one season now and have enjoyed my cricket with the fellow members this season. I have only one issue and that’s communication, it seems that everything finished after the last game (it might just be that my email is not in the general email's sent out to all members). This Website is great, however I feel that emails would be another great addition to give all members visibility on current club events/decision, as not everyone will be checking the website on regular bases.

Thanks

i was just wondering why the match scores are not being updated on the website.. and same for the batting and bowling stats ? i dont think theres any point in having the website then...

im sure most club players would agree that the club website should be updated as much as it can Regularly.

also keeping in mind that it aint easy to do so for whoever is responsible......

Mo Aziz

selection process ?

Also it helps if players only cry off for genuine reasons. Please believe me that all the captains put a lot of work into running their sides. This is apart from what people see on the day of play.Organising a side to travel to distant grounds in the TVCL and turn up on time, takes time and planning and can be stressful and those who let down that process are hindering the success of that side.Whilst i'm sure all the captains use performance as the main criteria, other factors such as reliability and (as steve says) whether they are serial non or slow payers of subs, also comes into play.

MADE TO FEEL WELCOME

I would hope that the playing for another club would affect selection in any way seeing as I have already played for 4 different clubs this season! I make that decision on the basis that I want to play with different people, different grounds and different formats of the game and that it helps me perform better.

Firstly, they are good and I do think that this is developing our website and our club; it allows members in the club to communicate which is important. However, I think these forums should ONLY be available to members of this club and not to the public. Its good to see some issues are being raised and the quicker they are raised and sorted out the sooner C&L can progress, but allowing outsiders, or potential members who are looking to join this club - to see these issues this club is having is going to stop them joining. Considering we NEED colts; after seeing this I do not think parents would be likely to send their son to this club.

I think if the admins could rectify it so only members of the club can see the forums.

Amish

MADE TO FEEL WELCOME

Heard from AJ UNALKAT at 11 o clock 1 hour prior to setting off on sunday morning that i was not allowed to play, as another member from the club complained that they were not getting a fair chance of play as i never put my self down as available in the books, hence them having priority of play over me. However i'm still unsure this was the main reason, as a few members of the club have pointed out that i have started playing for two clubs!

Heres my answer two that particular person making sly gestures to AJ and people asking why im playing for two clubs

1) Firstly, Me not putting my self down for selection the week before? well the answer is that i was mugged two weeks back and put in hospital, and had only felt i fully recovered on the wednesday and then wanting a game on wednesday night calling AJ for a game, who quite happily welcomed me to play for him.......

2) secondly the question of me playing for a new club on a sat? Well i was made to feel 'very unwelcome' a few weeks back at a net at whitton by the 2nd team captain, who obviously did not think his comments would have had such an affect on me. I also believe he did not use the pre season games to the best use i.e giving 'other key bowlers' a justly derserved spell of bowling. However that to me is not the real issue as he is a young captain and is still learning the game, i just hope for himself and the others playing around him that he sees this thread as a positive and can learn from this incident. My real problem is being told that 'i needed to get my act together in order to play on his team' in a very intimidating manner, when never once on the pitch while i was playing by his side i did not give 100% for him and my team members???

3)Thirdly me playing for two different clubs, firstly if u feel u can now longer work with ur captain then u cant play cricket, im not a professional and play cricket on my own schedule with the hope of having some fun. Also i do remember a number of players playing for two DIFFERENT CLUBS for a number of seasons, so why should i be banned on that point, surely that is unfair on my behalf????

Am I alone here??? or does anyone else neglect me playing on sundays?? My saturdays at the moment or sceptical but i pray i will be able to come back on the pitch for C&L and preform the way we all should

SHAKEY ;)

selection process ?

hi regarding selection process

just would liek to know how the selections work ? how do we get to play for the higher teams such as the sat 2nd eleven and saturday 3rds ? as ive noticed certain players wernt picked last season on there performance basis's and theres plenty of young guys who r talented and have the potential to get better by playing better cricket,

as im aware and what i have noticed is over the past few years that players are not picked because of the performance its like they have a set team........ !!! and the players who r chosen week in week out are not peforming and yet they r still selected,,,,,

I THINK TO PLAY CRICKET IN THE SATURDAY TEAM ABOVE 4S U DONT HAVE TO PERFORM JUS GO OUT FOR A FEW DRINKS GET HAMMERED AND JUS AV A CURRY WITH THE SKIPPER PERHAPS AND MAYBE U MIGHT GET A GAME .....

by the way do appologise if what ive said has upsetted anyone,, jus sharing my views i think thats y this website is designed for lol ?
